Legacy Reimagined: The Transformation of 50 Chestnut

Excelsior Communities is moving forward with a comprehensive renovation of 50 Chestnut, reimagining the historic Columbus Building as a modern residential destination while preserving its architectural character. The design concept, "Legacy Reimagined," honors the building's history as a Knights of Columbus hall through rich materials, warm wood tones, stone, terrazzo, brushed metals, deep greens, brick-inspired colors, matte black accents, and soft neutrals.

Renovations include major updates to the vestibule, main lobby, reception area, coffee bar, meeting and office spaces, fitness center, pool area, and elevator lobbies.

Highlights include a two-story feature fireplace, upgraded lighting, refinished terrazzo, a new resident coffee bar with custom millwork and seating, refreshed fitness amenities, improved pool circulation and relaxation areas, new arched pool niches, and updated elevator lobbies with wood accents, art, sconces, and wayfinding features.

Apartment interiors will also receive refreshed kitchen and bath finish packages, including new cabinetry, quartz countertops, backsplash tile, satin brass hardware, upgraded flooring, pendant lighting, vanity lighting, mirrors, and coordinated paint colors.

Overall, the renovation is designed to create a cohesive resident experience that blends historic charm with modern comfort, elevated finishes, and expanded amenity spaces.
